2010 Project of Choice: McLain Renewable Energy Lab

In 2010 the Henry Bellmon Sustainability Awards Steering Committee selected the McLain Renewable Energy Program as the Project of Choice.

The Renewable Energy Program at McLain includes a hands-on laboratory, career development opportunities, and interaction with the TCC Center for Energy Excellence and Innovation.

The Renewable Energy Hands-on Laboratory offers students a real word working photovoltaic (solar) laboratory that powers a greenhouse. The laboratory includes ten 130-watt solar modules and two 30 watt solar modules, LED light fixtures, batteries, charge controllers, inverter, solar -powered fans.

This project is sustainability in action and in the classroom, educating a green-minded workforce for future generations.
